Voting Proposals – March 26-28, 2010

These two proposals to amend Southwest Texas Area 68 Assembly Policies and Procedures will be discussed and voted on during the business meeting at the SWTA 68 Pre General Service Conference.

Proposal 1 was discussed at the Area Assembly in October 2009 and approved to take back to the groups for further consideration.  A final decision whether to adopt the amendment will be made at the upcoming assembly.

Proposal 2 will be seen and discussed for the first time at the Pre General Service Conference.  If at least 51% of the groups are in favor, the proposal will go back to the groups for further consideration and possible adoption at the October 2010 Area Assembly.

Proposal 1

That in the SWTA Service Structure and Procedures under Preamble, the third paragraph be amended to include the addition indicated below: Service to the Area Districts and Area Groups is its primary purpose and every attempt will be made to encourage all area groups to participate and support the Area Assembly, the General Service Office, [and] the AA World Services, “and The Grapevine and La Vina.”

Needs 2/3 majority for final approval. 

Proposal 2

Referencing SWTA Assembly “Service Structure and Procedures” page 5, remove the *note under Section IV.B.2, effectively allowing the Assembly to nominate candidates for Area Treasurer, Area Secretary, and Area Registrar.

Needs simple majority to take back to the groups.
